BISHOP MOVES ON

The Bury caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff has revealed that he had no other option but to let Bishop leave on a loan move to Wrexham. Andy Bishop is one of the quality strikers at the club. However, he has been suffering a huge dent in confidence in recent months after he has failed to score even a single goal in the last 21 appearances for the club. As a result, the caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff was left with no option but to send the player out on loan in order to help him regain his confidence. The 29-year-old will be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch.

Bury have made a poor start to the new season in the League One. They are currently without a win after having played five matches. Their latest defeat came in the hands of Preston, who ran out 2-1 winners. Now, the club has taken only two points from these five matches and it has put them just one place above the bottom club in the League One, Scunthorpe United. They have only two points on the board, but the caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff reckons that the club can climb up the table if they find some form.

“He came to see me and told me his confidence was shot. He said he needed to go away, get a change of scenery and hopefully that would spark him back to form. I thought it was a good opportunity for him to play at a lower level, maybe get some goals and maybe get some confidence back. I think it was a good move for both parties,” said the manager after sending the 29 year old Andy Bishop to Wrexham on the last day of the summer transfer window, while the club brought in some crucial players.
