BURY ADD THREE MORE PLAYERS AHEAD OF NEW SEASON

Bury have confirmed the signing of three players to the squad ahead of the forthcoming season, according to reports from the club.

The players were signed on free transfer deals. Defender Niall Maher joined the club after agreeing to a 12-month deal. The player was released by Bolton Wanderers before Bury decided to give him a chance. Midfielder Zeli Ismail, who was with Wolves, signed a two-year deal. The third is Ben Williams who is a goal keeper. He rejected a new deal from the Bantams so he could sign for Bury on a two-year deal.

Maher, who is just 20 years old, made five appearances in the last season and he played 10 games on loan at Blackpool during the 2014/2015 season. Ismail, 22, played for the Three Lions in the Under-16 and Under-17 categories. He also enjoyed a loan spell with MK Dons, Burton, Notts County, Oxford and even Cambridge.

On the other hand, Williams played at Valley Parade in 78 games since joining from Scotland in 2014. He broke the club’s record of 25 clean sheets in the last campaign. His career spans 14 years. The former Manchester United trainee has played well over 100 games for both Crewe and Colchester.

The club will register the players ahead of the coming season after three points was deducted by the Football Association by its disciplinary commission. The club fielded Callum Styles in their Sky Bet League One game against Southend on May 8, 2016. The club admitted it and the points were deducted retrospectively from the points’ total of the 2015/2016 season. The club through a statement on their website admitted to the error and accepted the punishment. The punishment changes nothing much as the club would appear when the league starts but the club promised full compliance with all regulations from henceforth.
