Bury To Host Oldham In League One Fixture

Relegation threatened League One side Bury FC are set to host Oldham Athletic at the Energy Check Stadium at Gigg Lane on Saturday. Oldham themselves also face relegation risk so they would approach the game with utmost seriousness.

Bury will be without Peter Clarke who cannot feature against his parent club while on loan. Bury coach Ryan Lowe is have to turn to Adam Thompson to play in defence in the crucial home fixture. Aside Clarke, Bury will miss Jermaine Beckford, Craig Jones and Eoghan O’Connell due to Knee, thigh and ligament injuries respectively.

The game is a must win for Lowe after the side dropped to the bottom of the standings with Rochdale’s midweek victory. The victory lifted them to 32 points and a better goal difference placed them above MK Dons in the 22nd spot. Lowe would be seeking to build on their last victory over eleventh placed Gillingham.

For Oldham they would have to resist a draw after steadying away from the relegation zone. They will be gunning for a third successive victory with the team on a high. Coach Richie Wellens has a decent and fully fit team at his disposal so they are expected to turn a decent result against their opponents.

Historically, Oldham have the advantage. In seven games between both sides at Gigg Lane, Bury have not won. There have been five losses and two wins for Bury so they stand a somewhat grim prospect against Oldham even at home. They have a decent home run at the moment, winning two and drawing two.

After 34 games, Bury usually have more than 30 points. The two times they didn’t in the history of the football league, they ended up being relegated. This makes it such an important game for them.
